We have a vision where one day every product we offer, plush or clothing, will be sustainable and we can truly call ourselves a green company. We have always limited unnecessary printing, reused and recycled cardboard cartons, currently use 100per cent recycled or FSC certified paper products and switched to green cleaning products, but creating a completely green product line which meets sustainability standards in our industry is a major challenge.
However we have made a start with our latest range of Eco products - our Plush for the Planet which has been approved by the Textile Exchange, the driving force for urgent climate action on textile fibre and materials with the goal of 45% reduction in CO2 emissions from fabric production by 2030. They also look at soil health, water usage and biodiversity as part of a holistic approach to driving change.
It was a steep learning curve as we learnt about using recyclable materials in the manufacturing process without sacrificing quality. Our inaugural lines are sea creatures, the species closest to raising awareness of the discarded plastics choking our oceans. Our Seaweed Turtle, Grey Great White Shark and Ocean Octopus are the first to fly the flag for Planet Plush, closely followed by Boon the Bear, Bandit the Racoon, Clementine the Cow, Finn the Fox and Riley the Rhino, all made from recyclable fabrics. We are very proud to offer the world’s first sustainable build your own bears and animals, certified and of the same quality as the rest of our Signature collection – keep a look out for more of our Eco range as we begin phasing out the old and ringing in the new !
